Where it is and who runs it
Cowboys Casino stands at 421 12 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB T2G 1A5, steps from Stampede Park and the Entertainment District. It is a casino with slot machines, electronic table games, live table games and VLTs. The Calgary Stampede controls the gaming. The venue also hosts AGLC-licensed charity casino events, which typically run over two consecutive days, a model unique to Alberta among Canadian provinces.
Before the current name, this was Stampede Casino. In 2011 the Stampede contracted Penny Lane Entertainment to run food, beverage and entertainment, and the Cowboys nightclub moved inside that same year. On July 27, 2026, Cowboys Dance Hall announced it was closing its location inside the casino. The Calgary Stampede says the casino stays open and will be rebranded in the coming months. In this guide it belongs to the Calgary area section, alongside Elbow River Casino near Victoria Park.
